Hours of the Day Deities | Egyptian Gods Grouping

As the daughter of the sun god Ra, Maat
was considered to personify the first
hour among the various "hours of the
day" deities.
Each hour of the day was personified in Egyptian religious thought by a deity - all of which were associated with the sun in some way and many of whom were often depicted along with the solar god in representations of his day barque, the mandet. Although these gods and goddesses were clearly linked with units of time, they are grouped here - as are the hours of the night - as "regional" deities, as each hour of the day and night was also a place- a physical part of the sun's transit across the sky or through the netherworld and the liminal areas of the two horizons. The first of these deities was Maat, the daughter of Ra, and the others were descendants of the sun god or his servants or helpers:
